Burdwan, Feb. 27: Unable to take the twists in the high drama, a first-year student of Kalna College died in front of television during last night’s match.

An avid cricket fan, he was named after stylish Pakistani batsman Zaheer Abbas. He was seeing Sourav’s boys take on Nasser Hussain’s England with friends at his Dangapara home. “When Kaif ran out Nick Night, we all leapt in joy but Zaheer fell to the floor, writhing in pain. It was all over in minutes,” recounted Dola Biswas, one of his friends. Zaheer’s father said doctors had detected a heart ailment in him some years ago.
